The right selection of global leadership talents is a key success factor for Multinational Enterprises (MNE). In this context they should focus on the competencies and potentials of talents and not on the country of origin. On the one hand, MNEs are interested in standardizing their processes, products, management methods, etc. worldwide; on the other hand Global Talent Management has to deal with people and their cultural and institutional characteristics, habits, values, etc.
The illustrated example of selecting global leadership talents shows how MNEs can successfully handle the balance between standardization and localization and that an integrated high quality selection process and a global leadership staffing strategy lead to global consistency and a better comparability and competitiveness of global organizations.
