Primarily using tabular forms, the brief report summarizes the main results of the user survey 2012 conducted by the Arbeitskreis Assessment Center e.V. concerning development and practical use of assessment centers (AC) in German speaking regions. Especially in relation to the last user survey from 2008 there is a substantial stability of the main AC elements with little changes (higher frequency of competency based job analysis, higher utilization rate of non-simulation-oriented exercises). In a sub group analysis concentrating on the differences between competency-based ACs and the remaining ACs only a few non-significant differences show up (competency-based ACs are more often used for potential analyses and for candidates from inside the organization, simulation-based exercises are more often utilized).
