In a sample of n = 417 working subjects, statistical calculations of correlations and multiple regressions have been used to analyse the relations between the activation of motivational schemes and goals (both approach and avoidance) at work, the sense of psychological incongruence, and mental performance reserves as one dimension of the Work Ability Index (WAI).
The results show high negative correlations between the sense of incongruence at work and the psychological performance reserves and the WAI of the respondents. From the results, conclusions regarding a health-oriented work design and organizational development are derived, and various options to implement these measures are discussed.
