Technological progress and, most recently, the Corona pandemic have led to the increased use of technology-mediated interviews for personnel selection. The following article aims to provide an overview of the current state of the art (until mid-2021) concerning research on technology-mediated interviews. First, recent findings on performance and acceptance differences compared to face-to-face interviews are summarized. Then, the causes of these differences will be specifically addressed and recent findings on the validity of technology-mediated interviews will be described. Based on the different findings, recommendations for practice and lines for future research will be provided and knowledge gaps concerning AI-assisted evaluations of video interviews will be briefly described.
